Hi there. I’m Zaki.
Odd name, I know. I’m one of those people whose parents had hoped for a boy, had the name Zachary all planned out, had no Plan B for a girl, HAD a girl *shock*, and named her the closest female variation they could to the original name they had set their hearts on. Yep.
I’m a mom who is on a quest to find the best ways to teach my kids all the stuff they need to know before they leave home. (Thus my awesome name, ZKsearch!)
I thought I’d write about it in blog form and put it out there so y’all can join me on the journey, so to speak. Chime in with your thoughts or opinions. I’m all ears.
I think this parenting thing is basically an 18-year-long guessing game. You think you’re a reasonably intelligent person until you have a kid, and even when they’re TWO MONTHS OLD, they can bring you to your knees in helplessness!
Like, this kid won’t stop crying and I don’t know what the hell to do!
Or when they’re TWO YEARS OLD, lying on the floor in the middle of Walmart having a meltdown, and you’re like, I don’t know what the hell to do!
Or when they’re SIXTEEN YEARS OLD, and you think maybe you smell pot in their bedroom, and you’re like, CRAP!! What the hell do I do?
And if you have more than one precious offspring, the guessing game just increases exponentially.
So, yeah. This is about identifying all the important things I think my kids should know before they leave mom and fly out into the big world.
